When breaking down the number of outbound trips from Italy by country, Spain emerged as the preferred destination in 2022, ahead of France, Croatia, and Greece. Meanwhile, according to a September 2023 survey focusing on the travel intentions of Italians, Spain and France also ranked as the preferred European countries for a trip over the next six months.
