White goods penetration rate in India 2020, by urbanization
In 2020, more than 70 percent of the urban electrified households owned a refrigerator. This rate stood at around 35 percent for the whole country. In that year, mixer/grinder had the highest penetration rate among the rural electrified households with 24 percent, while in urban area it stood at around 48 percent. On the other end, washing machines had one of the lowest penetration rates in both rural and urban areas, as around 20 percent of electrified households in India owned washing machine in 2020.
