Sports clubs in Poland
In 2020, Poland offered over 14 thousand sports clubs to its citizens. UKS (Uczniowski Klub Sportowy) student sports clubs constituted about one-third of that number. Those living in the Silesia (Slask) region had the most opportunity to boost their physical health; establishments located in the voivodeship accounted for 11.5 percent of the country’s sports clubs. In terms of sports club staff, there were approximately 55.4 employees across Poland. Coaches constituted the highest share, followed by instructors.Sports participation
Polish men are more likely to assess their physical fitness positively than women. In 2021, one in 10 women in the country declared their physical condition as bad or very bad.Pleasure and entertainment are the primary reasons for Poles’ participation in sports and recreational activities. For about three in 10 men, health reasons and doctor's recommendations figure among the dominant motivations. In 2021, approximately one-fourth of Poles spent an average time of at least two hours per week on physical activity.
