Share of target emissions compared to business as usual MENA 2023, by country
In 2019, Saudi Arabia comprised 37 percent of 1,744 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions among eight countries in the Middle East and North Africa. At its current levels, this share will increase to 42 percent of 2,567 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent by 2030. However, Saudi Arabia as part of the Paris Agreement has set NDC targets which would see its' emissions decrease, and comprise 40 percent of the region's total 1,994 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent target emissions by 2030.
