Largest demonstrations in France 1984-2023, by police and organizers' estimations
Since 1984, French people have frequently used their rights to demonstrate, mostly to express their disagreement with the government's new policies. Pension reforms, for example, have often brought many people to the streets. On October 12, 2010, around 3,5 million people, according to organizers' estimations, protested against the pension reform carried out by Eric Woerth, who was Minister of Labor at the time. Almost 15 years later, French people demonstrated their opposition to the most recent pension reform, with an estimated million in the streets, on January 31, 2023.
