Production volume of organic eggs in Finland 2017-2023
In the period from 2017 to 2022, the volume of organic eggs produced in Finland increased strongly. As of 2023, the production volume of organic eggs reached 4.43 million kilograms, decreasing from the previous year.
In the European Union (EU), a unique code must be printed on all eggs to identify and trace egg production. Organic eggs are marked with a “0” code. According to the EU organic standards, the flock size is set at 3,000 egg-laying hens. Poultry is fed with GMO-free feed and the use of antibiotics is more carefully regulated than with non-organic production.
