Sheep and goats slaughtered in Kenya 2016-2022
As of 2022, some 1.1 billion heads of sheep and goats were slaughtered in Kenya. The rise in the livestock slaughter count was primarily linked to a higher rate of utilization, employed as a means to address the scarcity of grazing land brought about by an extended period of drought. From 2016 onwards, the slaughtering of sheep and goats grew substantially in the country. For instance, around 8.2 million heads were slaughtered that year.
