Volume of automotive lead-acid batteries recycled in Japan FY 2016-2022
In the fiscal year 2022, Japan collected around 10.7 thousand tons of automotive lead-acid batteries, decreasing from 11.45 thousand in the previous year. Automotive lead-acid batteries are rechargeable (secondary) batteries, usually starting the engine and powering the vehicle electronics, not to be confused with automotive lithium-ion batteries for powering the propulsion motor in the case of electric vehicles.
