Planted forest area Japan 2021, by tree species
In 2021, the planted area of Japanese cedar, also called sugi, amounted to around 7.48 thousand hectares, making it the most common tree species in Japan. Japanese larch (karamatsu) followed, with a planted area of almost 6.3 thousand hectares.
