Number of passengers carried via JR Kyushu Shinkansen in Japan FY 2014-2023
In the fiscal year ended March 31, 2023, Kyushu Railway Company (JR Kyushu) carried around 12 million passengers on its high-speed Shinkansen trains, increasing compared to the previous year and getting close to pre-COVID-19 values. Belonging to the Japan Railways Group, the 1987-established Kyushu Railway Company (JR Kyushu) commenced its Shinkansen in 2003 (fully opened in 2011). The company inaugurated its new Nishi-Kyushu Shinkansen in September 2022, strengthening the high-speed railway network on the southern main island.
