Passenger-distance of JR Hokkaido Shinkansen in Japan FY 2016-2022
In fiscal year 2022, Japan Railways' Hokkaido Shinkansen high-speed trains realized around 168.08 million passenger-kilometers, increasing from roughly 88.81 million in the preceding year. The Hokkaido Shinkansen was partially opened in 2016, running between Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto-Station and Shin-Aomori and bridging Japan's main islands Hokkaido and Honshu via the undersea Seikan Tunnel. Operated by Hokkaido Railway Company (JR Hokkaido), the completion of the remaining section leading north to Sapporo is due by March 2031.
