Distribution of mobile iOS and Android apps based on most recent update date 2022
As of the first quarter of 2022, there were around 1,3 million apps on Google Play and Apple App Store that had not been updated within the past six months. More than 720 thousand apps had no updates in the past six to 12 months. Furthermore, around 670 thousand apps on both app stores had their last updates two to three years before the examined period. In April 2022, Apple announced that outdated apps will be removed from Apple App Store, but gave the developers 90 days to take action.
