Number of employees in the space industry South Korea 2011-2021
In 2021, there were roughly 9.8 thousand employees working in the space industry in South Korea. This was an increase from the previous year, and the highest figure recorded during the surveyed period. Since 2013, GPS navigation and satellite receivers were added as space industry sub-categories, which led to a large increase in the figures. With the successful launch of the Nuri rocket (also known as KSLV-II) in 2022, South Korea became the seventh country in the world that was able to put in orbit a satellite that weighs over one metric ton.
