Greenhouse gas emissions worldwide 2022, by country
China was the world's largest contributor to global greenhouse gas emissions in 2022, releasing almost 16 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (GtCO₂e). China's GHG emissions were almost equal to the combined emissions of the United States, India, and the European Union. These four emitters accounted for more than 50 percent of global GHG emissions in 2022.
