Travel and tourism's total contribution to GDP in Turkey 2019-2023

The total contribution of travel and tourism to the gross domestic product (GDP) in Turkey partially recovered in 2021 after dropping sharply in the first year of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Overall, travel and tourism in the country generated, directly and indirectly, 525 billion Turkish liras in 2021. In 2022, the industry recovered, going above pre-pandemic levels, with a total contribution of nearly 1.7 trillion Turkish lira. The figures for the contribution of travel and tourism to Turkey's GDP are expected to rise even more in 2023.
