Travel and tourism's total contribution to GDP in Turkey 2019-2021

The total contribution of travel and tourism to the gross domestic product (GDP) in Turkey partially recovered in 2021 after dropping sharply in the first year of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Overall, travel and tourism in the country generated, directly and indirectly, 525 billion Turkish liras in 2021. While this figure rose by nearly 61 percent compared to 2020, it remained below pre-pandemic levels.
