The number of domestic overnight stays in Florence increased significantly in 2022 compared to the first two years of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. That said, it remained below pre-pandemic levels. Overall, Lombardy was the leading domestic tourism market in Florence, with around 522 thousand overnight stays in the city's travel accommodation establishments in 2022. That year, Lazio and Campania followed in the ranking, with roughly 403 thousand and 360 thousand overnight stays, respectively.
