Cultural properties and monuments in Japan 2022 by type
As of May 2022, there were about 61.48 thousand listed arts and crafts cultural properties in Japan. Tangible properties, which included buildings and arts and crafts properties, had the most listed entries, followed by monuments, folk-cultural properties and intangible properties, such as entertaining arts, and craft skills. Cultural assets and properties listed here are designated by local authorities. There is a different list regarding important cultural properties of Japan, designated and published by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).
