Last mile delivery costs comprised the highest share of supply chain costs in 2018, with a survey conducted in that year finding that they comprised 41 percent of the total supply chain costs for the businesses surveyed. This compares to 13 percent for warehousing. Last mile delivery involves the journey of goods from a transportation hub to a final delivery point, usually a personal residence.
