Consumers buying meals online in the Netherlands 2020-2023, by education level
In 2023, Dutch shoppers with a higher education purchased meals online more than their compatriots with lower education did. That year, roughly 53 percent of consumers with the highest educational level purchased meals via the internet, down from around 57 percent the year before. Online meal shopping decreased for all educational levels from 2022 to 2023. Demand for the industry dwindled once COVID-19 lockdowns lifted, and consumers returned to in-person dining.
