Avocados from Mexico to the world
The popularity of avocados has made Mexico a leading exporter as well. In 2023, for instance, it exported over 1.2 million metric tons of avocados, worth over 2.8 billion U.S. dollars. Most of the exports go to its neighbor to the north, the United States of America, which received over a million metric tons of avocados that year. Avocados are particularly popular around the Super Bowl. For the February 2023 event, it was estimated that over 33 thousand metric tons of avocado were exported from Mexico to the United States in the last week of January alone.
