Poland: average value of shopping basket 2023

In 2023, the most expensive sales channel in Poland was e-grocery (on average, 341 zloty for a basket purchased online), exceeding the price of the most costly discount supermarket chain - Netto, by more than 21 zloty. The lowest average shopping basket price in this period was in Auchan and amounted to 208 zloty, a decrease of 10 percent compared to the previous year.

The data for the survey were collected in 5 outlets of each traditional chain located in 12 cities (Białystok, Bydgoszcz, Gdańsk, Jelenia Góra, Lublin, Łódź, Katowice, Kraków, Opole, Poznań, Warsaw, Szczecin). The report covers a total of 65 sales outlets and prices of 40 products common to all product chains in 10 categories (household chemistry and cosmetics, meat, cold cuts, fish, frozen food, dairy products, beverages, fat products, sweets, instant products, stimulants, alcohol, ketchup, and mayonnaise).
