During a survey in April of 2023, 55 percent of responding U.S. adults who have ever been a vegetarian stated that health benefits were among the reasons they were or are vegetarians. Personal taste, food safety concerns, and weight management all ranked above moral reasons as reasons why U.S. citizens were or are vegetarians.
