Leaving Cert: top marks in Maths and History

When Irish students received their Leaving Certificate results in August, girls outperformed boys in achieving top marks in most subjects. As part of TheJournal.ie's coverage of the examination results, Statista visualised some of the most important trends. Maths was one subject which bucked the trend with male high-achievers outperforming their female counterparts. In history, 7 percent of girls had a Grade 1 compared to 5.9 percent of boys.
