U.S. Government Shutdown

Who Are Americans Blaming For The Shutdown?

Amid a record-breaking U.S. government shutdown which has lasted more than three weeks, a poll has shed light on who the public is blaming for the impasse. The Washington Post-ABC News poll was released on Sunday and it found that 53 percent of the U.S. public thinks the president and his party should shoulder blame for the shutdown while 29 percent are holding the Democrats in Congress accountable.

Unsurprisingly, there is a sharp partisan divide in the research with 85 percent of Democrats blaming the president and 68 percent of Republicans pointing the finger at the Democrats in Congress.
