England's worst ever Ashes innings - and incredible comebacks

After England's batting collapsed spectacularly on Friday, registering a 67 all out which places comfortably among the list of their worst ever Ashes innings, almost all hope was lost for the test and of winning the Ashes. As the data from ESPN cricinfo shows, the score represents the eighth worst Ashes innings of all time. However there was one curiosity in the historical results which left room for a small glimmer of hope. The worst ever innings of 45 in 1887 actually led to a test win - when England ended up beating Australia by 13 runs.

And, miraculously, chasing a record 359 runs, Ben Stokes put in one of the greatest test innings of all time, registering an imperious 135 not out - keeping the Ashes alive, and English spirits high.
