The Lucrative World of Horse Racing

The Dubai World Cup one of the most prestigious horse races in the world, taking place on April 5. It will be broadcast in 170 countries worldwide, according to the Dubai Racing Club. With a prize fund of 12 million U.S. dollars, it is among the most lucrative events of its kind.

According to Statista, only two horse races offer a higher prize purse: The Saudi Cup in Saudi Arabia and The Everest in Australia - both are offering a prize of 20 million U.S. dollars. In addition to the Arabian Peninsula and Australia, the U.S. and Japan are also among the places to host particularly profitable races as illustrated by the following infographic.

A forecast recently published by Research and Markets shows just how valuable the racing business is. It estimates that the global horse racing market could reach a market size of approximately $127 billion in 2025 and will continue to grow in the coming years.
