Sustainable Energy
Energy of the Future Is Popular Sustainability Topic
A survey by Statista Consumer Insights shows that green energy is one of the sustainability topics that interests people most. While not everybody is getting informed on these issues, between 18 and 39 percent of respondents from eight countries had sought information on renewables - between ranks 2 and 5 for sustainability topics.
Food waste and water scarcity was researched most by respondents. Several countries also cared more about issues of waste disposal, while Brazil and Mexico also researched deforestation a lot.
While the rates of research in the U.S. were typically not among the very lowest across the queried topics, which also included microplastics, fast fashion and CO₂ footprints, the country had the most people who had not researched any sustainability issues. 40 percent of U.S. respondents answered "none of the above", hinting at the fact that while those Americans that care about these topics are avid researchers, a lot of U.S. residents are nonplussed about sustainability. The United Kingdom had the second least engaged populace at 38 percent having done no such research.
