New South Wales Leads Australia in Tourism Employment

New South Wales, Australia, recorded the highest number of people employed directly by the tourism sector in the 2023–24 financial year, at around 195,000. It also accounted for the largest number of people employed indirectly in tourism during the same period.

According to Tourism Research Australia, tourism contributed AUD 81.1 billion to national GDP in the following year 2024–25, with accommodation and food services making up the largest share of tourism consumption.
