Digital Travel Platforms Help Australian Hotels Address Seasonality

Findings from the 2025 Australia Accommodation Barometer reveal how Australian hoteliers tackle seasonality challenges. When asked about boosting low-season bookings, 55% highlighted collaboration with digital travel platforms, including social media and online travel platforms, as a key strategy. Flexible booking and cancellation policies in the off-season were also important, used by 45% of respondents. Hosting events such as conferences or retreats (38%) and modifying staff levels and operations (38%) further helped accommodations maintain year-round relevance. These approaches showcase the diverse tactics hotels employ to secure steady occupancy despite seasonal fluctuations.

The 2025 Australia Accommodation Barometer is the third study of hoteliers conducted by Statista in collaboration with Booking.com, surveying 250 accommodation executives and managers from across Australia. Click here to download the full report.
