The rise of nationalism across Europe

Earlier this week, Alexander Van der Bellen won the presidential election in Austria, preventing Norbert Hofer from becoming the first far-right head of state in the European Union. The vote was close with Van der Bellen winning 50.3 percent of the vote compared to Hofer's 49.7. Nationalist parties have been doing well across Europe in recent years, as can be seen on this infographic which was recently featured in the Independent.
