How much does poverty cost the UK every year?

According to Oxfam, one in five people int he UK are living below the poverty line and that equates to over 13 million people. The Joseph Rowntree foundation recently released data showing how much poverty costs the UK every year. Spending on povery amounts to an estimated £78 billion, higher than industry, agriculture, employment and transport combined. Read more in the indy100.
