Brexit

Leavers Want the Hard Version

The Supreme Court is set to decide on whether the British parliament will need to vote on the United Kingdom leaving the European Union. British Prime Minister Theresa May has announced she supports the hard Brexit scenario and wants Britain to pull out of the common EU market.

This certainly is a reasonable thing to ask for, considering that the leavers, who won the popular referendum last year, are in favor of it (dark blue position in the infographic). However, considering the slim margin by which the Leave campaign won (51.9 Leave, 48.1 Remain), this policy call might have the potential to alienate a big swath of the British public, who believe that a hard Brexit might hurt the UK.
