All to play for in the French election

The eleven candidates in the French presidential election will be taking part in the second live televised debate tonight. While most of the participants will ultimately be playing a side role, for the top candidates it is looking increasingly tight in the polls. The Financial Times 'poll of polls' shows that in the first round of voting, Macron and Le Pen are neck and neck with 25 percent. Looking to the run-off though, Macron is predicted to walk it with 62 percent of the vote.

Key in all of this however, is the extraordinarily high share of the public that say they still don't know how they will vote or that they may yet change their minds. According to BVA's latest survey, 38 percent of voters remain to some degree on the fence. The final two televised debates are therefore going to be especially crucial in determining which way this election swings.
