Trump Effect Puts Off German Start-Up Founders
America was once hailed as the land of unlimited (business) opportunities. This perception has recently changed, at least among German start-up founders. According to data published by the tech trade-organization Bitkom, the number of German start-up entrepreneurs who could imagine basing their firm in the United States has fallen by half in a year-over-year comparison. While in 2016 32 percent could imagine relocating to the U.S., the figure has dropped to 15 percent for this year. "The results very likely reflect the Trump effect," according to Bitkom managing director Niklas Veltkamp.
