Medal count by country in the Men's 5,000m at the Summer Olympics 1912-2020
Since it's introduction in 1912, the Men's 5,000 meter race has been a staple event at the Summer Olympics. The most successful nation in this event is Finland, whose athletes have won seven golds and 13 overall medals (although the last of these was won in 1980). The only athletes to have won two golds in this event were Finland's Lasse Virén, and the current champion Mo Farah of Great Britain. No athlete has ever been stripped of a medal won in this event.
