Average CO₂ emissions of the global dry cargo fleet 2015-2021
With the environmental performance of cargo fleets improving, the average carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions of the global dry cargo fleet declined from 2015 to 2020. In 2021, however, the average CO2 emissions grew by about eight percent compared with 2020. This increase was caused by a series of contributing factors, such as port congestions and delays and an overall increase in containership speed in 2021.
