Plans of new adults on coming-of-age day Japan 2020
According to a survey conducted in January 2020, around 59 percent of new adults in Japan stated that they were planning to attend a ceremony that is organized by municipalities on the coming-of-age day. The coming-of-age day takes place on the second Monday in January of each year. A lot of new adults, especially women, attend a ceremony wearing kimonos to celebrate the day. In Japan, people become legally of age when they turn 20 years old.
