Reduction of cash flow in East African businesses, by sector 2020
East African businesses in the tourism sector registered a loss of 92 percent in cash flow in the first months of 2020. The industry was strongly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to measures such as curfews and the closure of airports and borders. Logistics and retail were also hit by the coronavirus outbreak, with reductions of 75 percent and 63 percent in cash flow, respectively. By contrast, pharmaceutical businesses registered no loss.
