Commercial property mortgage lending German banks

In 2022, total new commercial mortgage lending in Germany among the banks analyzed amounted to around 38.8 billion euros. BayernLB, for example, reported around 6 billion euros worth of new business volume. The graph shows the value of new mortgage loans for commercial real estate financing in selected German banks in 2021 and 2022.

Commercial real estate financing also includes, besides the financing of commercially used real estate, the commercial real estate financing for legal entities as borrowers. The analysis covers a selection of nationally active German banks, whose financial reporting separately displays the respective numbers and therefore allows for comparison.

The information on new business figures refers to the financing volume in Germany. Fundraising through capital market products such as capital increase or bond issues were not included in the report.
