Perception of harsh double punishment of famous drug users in South Korea 2022
According to a survey conducted in South Korea in late 2022, around 16 percent of respondents stated that they believed the double punishment of public persons in the case of drug use was harsh. Double punishment refers to the social and economic consequences public persons such as celebrities, athletes, politicians, and chaebol (conglomerate) businessmen experience alongside legal issues due to their public status. Most people, however, took no issue with these extra consequences for famous people.
