This statistic shows the monthly change in the manufacturing sector employment in the United States. The data are seasonally adjusted. According to the BLS, the data is derived from the Current Employment Statistics (CES) program which surveys each month about 140,000 businesses and government agencies, representing approximately 440,000 individual worksites, in order to provide detailed industry data on employment. In the goods-producing sector, manufacturing remained unchanged in April. Total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 165,000 in April 2013.
