Primary energy supply share in Mexico 2020, by source
In 2020, fossil fuels accounted for nearly 87 percent of Mexico's primary energy supply. Natural gas was the Latin American country's main source of primary energy, followed by crude oil. Meanwhile, renewable sources – including firewood, nuclear, bagasse, hydropower, geothermal, solar, wind, and biogas – accounted for less than 17 percent of the national energy supply.
