European financial rescue: disbursed capital 2012-2013

On June 25, 2012, the Government of Spain made an official request for financial assistance for its banking system to the European Stability Mechanism (ESM) for a loan of up to 100,000 million euros. To date, the ESM has disbursed approximately 41,330 million in Spain that have been channeled through the Fund for Orderly Bank Restructuring (FROB). The FROB used these funds to recapitalize Spanish banks. Home In a first disbursement, the following banks were recapitalized: BFA-Bankia, Catalunya-Caixa, NCG Banco and Banco de Valencia. Additionally, it provided a portion of the capital to the Asset Management Company from Banking Restructuring (Sareb).

In a second disbursement, the following banks were recapitalized: Banco Mare Nostrum, Banco Ceiss, Caja 3 and Liberbank.
