Primary energy consumption in Canada increased by roughly 2.2 percent in 2022, when compared to the previous year. Natural gas was the greatest source of primary energy in the country, accounting for more than 30 percent of Canada's primary energy consumption that year. This was followed by oil and hydroelectricity.
