Fatal Vehicle Attacks in Europe

There seems to be a new pattern emerging in terrorism against targets in Europe. Instead of complex attacks with explosives and fire arms jihadist terrorists have resorted to employing vehicles to wreak indiscriminate havoc against civilians.

Last year's incident in Nice in Southern France was the most deadly such attack of its kind. Last week's attack in Barcelona in Spain was the most recent one. Though the Islamic State (IS) often claims responsibility for the attacks it is more than likely that they are conducted by individuals only loosely affiliated with the IS by ideology.
