Leaving Cert: top marks in English and Irish

When Irish students received their Leaving Certificate results in August, girls outperformed boys in achieving top marks in most subjects. As part of TheJournal.ie's coverage of the examination results, Statista visualised some of the most important trends. 3.1 percent of high achievers in English were female compared to 2.5 percent who were male. It was the same story in Irish where 5.5 percent of students getting Grade 1 were female while 3.7 percent were male.
