Trump's First Four Mar-a-Lago Trips Cost Nearly $14M

A report from the non-partisan Government Accountability Office states that President Trump's first four trips to his Mar-a-Lago resort cost U.S. tax payers nearly $14 million. The Departments of Defense and Homeland Security incurred most of the costs - $8.5 million and $5.1 million respectively. These costs include the operating expenses for Air Force One as well as Secret Service expenses such as accommodation and the deployment of sniffer dogs.

An estimated $60,000 in expenses were paid back to the Mar-a-Lago resort. The $14 million bill for the four trips covers the period from February 3 to March 5, 2017. By comparison, President Obama's total annual travel expenses averaged $12.1 million annually over the course of his eight-year stint in office.
