Democratic Donation Platform ActBlue More Successful Each Election Cycle

Shunning corporate PACs or even all super PACs has been en vogue this pre-election season among presidential hopefuls vying for the Democratic nomination. In a process of trying to move away from large donors and towards small donor contributions, Democrats are setting their hopes on online platform ActBlue.

The fundraising tool, which is only available for Democrats even though it’s owned by a private company, provides candidates with the technology to collect small donations directly without having to go through a PAC or other outside group. It is also open to other Democratic causes.

Contribution through ActBlue have been increasing with every election season. While the platform handled US$329.3 million in contributions in the 2012-2014 cycle, that number increased to more than US$1.6 billion in 2016-2018.
