U.S. Energy Consumption

Why U.S. Homeowners Want Solar Power

More U.S. homeowners are turning toward alternative energy sources as unease about global climate change rises. Helping the environment and saving money on utility bills are the main reason people are considering solar panels, according to a new survey by Pew Research Center, conducted October 1 to 13, 2019. More than 3,600 adults were questioned for the poll.

Time magazine highlighted climate change by making Greta Thunberg, the teenage activist who sparked the global Fridays For Future movement, their Person of the Year. She refuses to fly on airplanes, has met the Pope, addressed the United Nations and squabbled with President Donald Trump. Most famously, however, she inspired more than 4 million people to participate in a worldwide climate strike in September.
